Footprint Carrot Craft

This footprint carrot is fun as a spring or Easter craft and even as a vegetable craft for preschoolers. It is simple to make. Paint, or have the child paint, the toes green as well as a strip just below the toes. It should be in a bit of an arch so the the carrot's top is rounded. Then paint the rest of the foot orange, remembering to keep the top of the carrot where the green & orange meet in a slight arch (see photo above for reference). Have the child place their foot on the paper. When it dries, draw orange lines to represent the indentations in a carrot.

Variations:
  1. Draw a horizontal line across the entire page equal to where the orange & green meet. Have the children make brown fingerprints underneath the line to represent dirt.
  2. Do the same thing as in #1 but instead of fingerprint, use brown watercolors or watered down brown paint.
  3. I used an decorative edge to punch the sides of our paper. I love all of the Martha Stewart craft edge punches!

Check out the carrot-shaped carrot snack we also made or these handprint & fingerprint fruits from our archive!
