Fingerprint Chinese Lucky Tree Canvas Keepsake

Chinese Lucky Tree fingerprint craft for the New Year

Every year we get together with my son's best friend and some of our other friends for a Chinese New Year play date. Since this year was the year of the snake, the kids made an egg carton snake and a Fingerprint Lucky Tree canvas keepsake.

Making Fingerpint Lucky Trees for Chinese New Yea

  1. Lightly draw a tree trunk with pencil. Try to make it so it looks somewhat triangular in shape if you we're to draw a line around all the branches. Please note that we used canvases but paper would be just fine too.
  2. Paint the tree trunk brown.
  3. Have the kids make yellow and red fingerprints on the branches.
  4. Using Chinese character symbols, write things like luck, fortune, Happy New Year, and so on.

Check out the whole Chinese New year playdate here including their adorable outfits, red envelopes, and egg carton snake.
